Find the right NVQ Diploma Course for you

NVQ courses provide experienced safety practitioners with degree level qualifications through hands on, evidence based assessment.

Phoenix provide NVQs with exceptional service and support, approved by ProQual, the Awarding Body for NVQ Diplomas.

What are NVQ Diplomas in Health & Safety?

NVQs are the UK's premier vocational qualifications and a great alternative to academic study. Candidates compile a portfolio of their day-to-day work throughout the course, evidencing their ability to meet each of the learning objectives.

NVQ Diplomas are suitable for health & safety professionals who already have a few years’ experience in the industry. Candidates may already have a level 3 health & safety qualification prior to studying the NVQ Diploma, such as a NEBOSH Certificate.

All our NVQ courses are work-based and completed via distance learning. There are no exams, as the course is assessed via a portfolio of work. Candidates are assigned a dedicated NVQ Assessor, who will support you and provide feedback throughout your course.

NVQ Eligibility Checklist

Do you have access to a professional who can provide a witness testimony for your occupational competency?

This can be a colleague or supervisor who can attest to your competence and experience in performing health and safety management tasks. There are no requirements for your witness, they simply need to have seen you in the working environment! Provide you witness details before your induction and your assessor will reach out via email.

Do you have entry-level IT skills and a good understanding of written and spoken English?

Entry-level IT skills include use of Microsoft Word or similar word processers, and the ability to save and upload files to digital storage spaces.

A good understanding of English, equivalent to International English Language Testing System 6.0 or higher, is recommended so that candidates can understand course content, which is all delivered in English.

What's the difference between the Level 6 and Level 7 NVQ?

What's the difference between the Level 5 and Level 6 NVQ?

The NVQ Level 5, which we no longer offer, is the equivalent of a foundation degree. The NVQ Level 6 is a higher qualification, equivalent to a full bachelor’s degree and the NEBOSH National Diploma. Due to its slightly more stringent requirements, many international employers prefer NVQ Level 6.

When will I get my NVQ Results?

As you make your submissions, your assessor will review each one and advise whether it has been added to your e‑portfolio or requires further amendments.
